Scribd iPaper plugin for Wordpress

February 21st, 2008

*** Update October 13 2008 ***

Version 0.2 is now available and works on versions 2.3, 2.5 and 2.6 of Wordpress.  Just follow the same link below, the file is updated.

I have just created version 0.1 WP iPaper, the Scribd iPaper plugin for Wordpress.

Go to the download page.

Installation

There is only one php file at the moment. Upload this to /wp-content/plugins. Then go to Plugins and activate it.

Usage

There are 2 required parameters, and 2 optional ones:

Required: docId & access_key

These can be found on your Scribd documents page. Click on the information icon next to your uploaded document. There you will see the urls for your document, and in there are your docId and access_key.

Optional: height & width

The height and width of the embedded document. Currently the default height is hardcoded and set to 600 high and 400 wide. I will add a config page soon.

Example Usage:

ipaper docId=12345 access_key=key-a0s9d8a0s9d8 height=600 width=400 /

Please enclose the above in square brackets [], I have left them out to display usage.

Stuart! You are the man! Thank you so much for coming up with a solution so quickly. Love it! I could use more exclamations but I might be overdoing it then. Just really want to say cheers for the quality work.

Hey, James here from Scribd. Awesome work with the plugin! We love seeing developers build stuff around iPaper, and, we hope to foster a strong developer community in the next coming weeks.

I’ve linked to your plugin from our resources page here: http://www.scribd.com/platform/resources/projects

    Cheers!

It doesn’t work for me in wordpress 2.5. I only get a link to scribd.com with the text “Scribd”

@JM: Thanks for letting me know.

I haven’t tested with 2.5 yet, so I’ll see if I can get it working.

So does this work in wordpess 2.5?

I’d really like to try it.

It was working great with WP2.5, but when I updated to 2.5.1 it stopped working. I get a “missing parameter error” in the ipaper frame.

    Any ideas?

Odd. I didn’t think much had changed from 2.5 to 2.5.1 but no, the plug-in doesn’t work for me either. Pity.
If you have time to take a look at it that would be great thanks.

I look forward to the update for 2.6 as it does not work. :(

I’ve ended up here after looking for something … and it might be what I want.

But, I came here to find out hwat it does. Only this page doesn’t actually say.

So, here I am, convinced you have a great solution, only I’ve no idea what the problem is :)
I’m also running v2.6 so I can’t download it, install it and see what it does.

Back to google to find out what it does I guess!

Thanks for contributing to the Wordpress community though with what is bound to be a useful plugin (that no doubt I will end up using when I find out what it’s for).

    Good man!

Hi, I have done an advanced iPaper plugin for Wordpress in which you can synchronize your Scribd account and insert your docs in one click in your posts.
